Thomas H. Peters

Thom Peters is a 1992 graduate of the Duke University School of Law. He holds a BA in philosophy and history from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Virtually his entire professional career has been devoted to civil litigation and, since 1994, he has exclusively represented plaintiffs. His practice focuses on catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death matters, as well as class actions, mass actions and other complex tort cases.

Mr. Peters is a long-time Member of Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and has had the privilege of serving on its Board of Governors since 1996. That organization has bestowed its Presidential Award upon him in numerous years. From 2002 until 2009, he served as the Chair of the CAALA Governmental Relations Committee. From 2008 until 2011 he served on the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and currently has the honor of serving on the Executive Committee of the organization's Litigation Section. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice. Mr. Peters is very proud to have received the Wiley Manuel Pro Bono Award from the State Bar of California and to have received the Bet Tzedek Award for Pro Bono Services in multiple years.

Mr. Peters is A.V. rated (the highest rating given) by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as a Southern California "Superlawyer" (the top 5% of all lawyers in the region) each year since 2009. He has lectured on behalf of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Consumer Attorneys Association of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Los Angeles Superior Court, and even the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association. He has also authored numerous publications in various professional journals. Mr. Peters is also a licensed pilot.

Noteworthy results include:

$16.2 million obtained for a group of individuals who were injured or who lost loved ones as a result of a train collision.

$13 million recovered against a commuter rail service for victims who were injured and lost loved ones in a railroad disaster caused by a deranged felon who left a Jeep on the tracks and was later convicted of eleven counts of first degree murder and one count of arson.

$12 million recovered in a products liability action for the wrongful death of middle-aged spouses due to defective recreational vehicle design.

$12 million obtained in a class action lawsuit on behalf of misclassified employees who were denied pay for overtime and meal and rest breaks by their employer.

$10 million recovered in a products liability action for the wrongful death of a spouse due to defective tire design.

$6.8 million for a construction worker who suffered a spinal cord injury due to the negligence of a general contractor.

$4.5 million recovered for a railroad switchman who lost his leg below the knee due to the negligence of a railroad.

$4.1 million for the wrongful death of a spouse due to the negligence of a ship owner.

$4 million recovered in a products liability action for an individual who suffered brain damage due to defective automotive vehicle design.

$3.5 million for wrongful death of a middle-aged man killed in a traffic accident.

$3 million recovered for a victim of an unwitnessed slip and fall accident in a supermarket where the plaintiff suffered a brain injury.

$2.2 million for a 70 year old customer struck by car at an automobile auction in Colorado.

$2 million for the wrongful death of a motorcyclist who was under the influence of marijuana and methamphetamine at the time he struck a truck leading to his demise.

$2 million recovered in a products liability action for an individual who suffered a spinal cord injury due to defective automotive design.
